Service Technicians (Including Leads)
$17 - $25 hourly (DOE)
Diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul farm machinery and vehicles.
Record details of repairs made, and parts used.
Maintain, repair and overhaul farm machinery.
Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports and confer with customers to
locate and diagnose malfunctions.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of
maintenance is needed.
Determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do about it. Conduct tests and
inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
Test and replace electrical components and wiring.
Clean and lubricate parts
Tune or overhaul engines.
Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery.
Repair machines both in company shop as well as on customer site, using the needed
Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and
equipment that operates primarily on the basis of mechanical principles.
Submit to Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
Watch gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure machine is working properly.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs & uses
Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points
being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Use a number of tools such as: wrenches, files, hammers, power drills, screw drivers, pry
bars, shears, wire brushes, stapler, scales, computers and others as required.
Imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or
Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
Analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve
Communicate effectively in English.
Knowledge of principles for providing customer service including customer needs
assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer
Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates, providing information by
telephone, written form and/or in person.
Typical Physical Activities:
Must wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, welding mask,
protective glasses, gloves and/or hearing protection.
Work in a manufacturing environment, lift and move objects up to 75 pounds, using lift
assistance when appropriate.
Stands for extended periods of time.
Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to
grasp, manipulate or assemble very small objects. Considerable use of arms, legs and
moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling
Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact
Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs.
Hearing and vision within normal ranges with or without correction. Ability to see details
at close range.
Sun Exposure: 40% or less work time spent outside a building and exposed to the sun.
Irregular or extended work hours: Occasionally required to change working hours or
Work Experience Requirements:
Service Technicians may be trained on the job or have previous assembly experience.
Service Technician Lead must have at least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing
High school diploma or GED
