DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Performs Non-Appropriated Fund unique system software maintenance as required. Installs, upgrades, and maintains software control functions for FSS.NET. Determines whether new software is needed or if existing programs can be enhanced. Installs or removes software packages to include operating system office automation and special purpose software. Loads appropriate printer drivers; answers technical questions. Maintains FSS operating system to include software upgrades, data separation, equipment maintenance, database maintenance, and system backups. Performs inventory of hardware and records the temporary and/or permanent transfer of hardware. Identifies hardware problems and develops solutions for associated short and long-term effects. Determines whether hardware repair with vendor support or local assets are needed. Performs equipment maintenance, guidance and assistance to FSS customers. Demonstrates processes and procedures to users. Prepares operating procedures and recommends automated methods for better use of resources. Prepares course of action to be taken when anticipated machine errors occur, control setups, emergency shutdown processes and procedures for rebooting the system. Maintains, interprets and writes portions of operating equipment and user manuals and instructions. Performs system tests and completes appropriate worksheets and reports. Monitors the operation of automated programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors. Implements timely change and analyzes the results for any additional actions required. Coordinates the disposal of obsolete inventory with proper documentation and authorization. Enforces computer and networks security standards. Assist PCI Compliance Officer ensuring FSS PCI Compliance. FSS ADPE Equipment Custodian. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must have working knowledge of computer hardware and/or software and associated equipment, configuration and interconnecting components used to activate, control and monitor computer, computer networks and network administration. Knowledge of information processing sequences, controls and procedures. Ability to analyze computer software and/or hardware problems and develop economical solutions. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and/or in writing. Ability to train users. Must have or obtain within 6 months or hire; either A+, Network+ or Security+ certification. PCI Compliance knowledge. Work requires some physical exertion such as regular bending, crouching, stooping, stretching to move and correct computer equipment and lifting of moderately heavy boxes (up to 301bs). Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must be able to work with peers and with the public. Must be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends and be on call to support mission critical systems. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
