Aethercomm designs and manufactures RF and Microwave amplifier modules, subsystems and systems. The majority of our work is custom. The reliability and effectiveness of thousands of Aethercomm products has been tested and proven in combat, helping to protect and save the lives of our warfighters.

 

Aethercomm is looking to fill a CAD Designer/ Drafter I position.

Scope: The purpose of this procedure is to establish and define the essential duties and responsibilities, education and/or experience, reporting relationships,
language skills, mathematical skills, reasoning skills, physical requirements, and measurements of performance for a CAD Designer/Drafter I at Aethercomm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability
    to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics.
  • Familiar
    with CAD Software (Mechanical CAD Software such as Solidworks/AutoCAD or
    Electrical CAD Software such as PADs Logic/Altium).
  • Learn and
    understand basic drawings, dimensions, and IPC standards that pertain to
    the PCB Designs.
  • Create
    detailed electrical/mechanical layouts with basic level of complexity using
    the schematics and guidance from the group lead and the boards engineer.
  • Ability
    to understand and keep all part tracking documents up to date, along with
    the storing of data sheets.
  • Create
    PCB (fabrication) drawings, PWB files to manufacture a PCB including the
    Gerber files and solder paste files.
  • Work
    directly with designers and engineers to prepare drawings and support any
    questions and concerns about the designs.
  • Create
    CCA (assembly) drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Pick and Place
    files.
  • Ability
    to incorporate basic level ECN with guidance from the department lead and/or
    engineer.
  • Build
    the parts and symbols for the parts library, following the design guidelines.
  • Work
    with Document Control to ensure proper document control and configuration
    management is maintained.
  • Analyze
    various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or
    alternative constructions.
  • Support and collaborate with all other departments.
  • Ensure
    company compliance with AS9100.
  • Perform
    all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in related area is preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as percentages and ratios to practical situations. Ability to convert between units such as from mm to inches.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Computer Skills:

MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Internet software, Solidworks, Cam 350, PADS Layout, Pads Logic, AutoCAD, CAD Tools, and Database software.
